Canine Physiotherapy

Veterinary Physiotherapy is recommended for a range of dogs to improve pain, performance and quality of life.

Physiotherapists work with a range of conditions including, but not restricted to the ones shown below.

  • Intervertebral disc disease (IVDD)
  • Back pain
  • Neck pain
  • Various surgeries such as TPLO and spinal surgeries
  • Degenerative conditions such as osteoarthritis, hip/elbow dysplasia
  • Neurological conditions
  • Muscle imbalances
  • Soft tissue injuries such as tendon, ligament and muscle
  • Patella luxation

Below are signs that your dog may be in pain:

  • Lameness
  • Reluctance to jump on and off the sofa
  • Struggling to get in and out of the car
  • Struggling to go up and down the stairs
  • Consistently licking an area of the body

Alex uses a range of approaches within her Physiotherapy practice depending on the needs of you and your animal:

  1.  Bespoke rehabilitation plans tailored to your goals
  2. A range of manual therapy techniques
  3. Advice and education tailored to recovery and self management
  4. Electrotherapy including low level laser therapy and neuromuscular electrical stimulation

All treatments are holistic in approach and applied using clinical reasoning to ensure you/your animals receives the best care.

In line with the Veterinary Surgeons Act (1966) I require veterinary consent for any animal that has an active/recent problem/pathology, such as post surgery, injury or lameness issue. For any maintenance physiotherapy for a dog with no active lameness issues/post surgical needs, I am able to treat without veterinary consent. If any issues are to arise, I will liaise with your Veterinarian as appropriate.
